In case of a freeze:

Your pool system should have a freeze guard that will turn on the necessary equipment when the temperatures gets too low.

If you lose power or your freeze guard does not turn on, you should immediately call 817-807-6140. If I cannot be reached here are the basics of what you can do. This is to serve only as a guide in case of an emergency and I assume no responsibility when you work on your own equipment.   Now that we got the legal out of the way, here's what you can do.

1. Turn off your equipment at the breaker if possible, so that nothing comes on after you have drained everything.
2. Drain the water out of every piece of equipment, making sure there is nothing to freeze.
3. Cover all your equipment with blankets and tarps.

The pictures below will give you a good idea of where the drain plugs will be on the Main Circulation & Waterfall, Cleaner, Heater and Filter Pumps, however sometimes the drain plugs are difficult to see and on the heaters the drain plugs may be hidden by the panels.
If you don't feel comfortable doing any of this please don't attempt it. Call me prior to a freeze and I can come out for a service call and drain everything and after the freeze put everything back and start it up for you.

The next step to protecting your pool, is to make sure the surface of your water does not ice over. When the equipment is running properly, the natural flow will help prevent this however if the temp is too cold, ice can still form. If the equipment has been drained, here are some simple things you can do so that you don't have to continually stir your pool water.
    1. Toss in some pool noodles
    2. Tie down some large floatation devices (this is the best way)
    3. Make your own by gabbing some empty 2 litter bottles or buckets with a tight lid and fill them about 1/8 - 1/4 full of pebbles, sand, or whatever will add weight, just not water lol
These simple suggestions are ways to keep the water moving as the wind will do the work.

This is not a comprehensive list, but it will cover the average pool setup. Please keep in mind that this is not a guarantee that this will protect your pool and equipment from severe weather however be assured that as your pool service technician, I will work hard and extended hours to service your pool.
